Decembrists museum
Chita Decembrists’ Museum operating since 1985 is situated in the building of Old Chita Michael the Archangel church (Decembrists' church).  The church is the oldest building of the city dating back to 1776, and has the status of the wooden architecture monument of the XVIII century. It has been under state protection since 1974.

On 4 April 1828 Decembrist I.A.Annenkov got married in this church to a French Polina Gebl, in 1839 Decembrist Zavalishin and daughter of a mine director Appolinaria Smolyaninova entered into holy wedlock here.  Here, in the churchyard the daughter of Volkonsky Sophia who was born and died on 10 July 1830 and Appolinaria Smolyaninova were buried .
In 1827-1930 85 members of the uprising at the Senate Square in Saint Petersburg served in exile in the Chita. Seven courageous women – wives and brides followed them to Chita and shared their fate.
