This section provides information about public transport in Chita: trolley bus routes, bus routs and the number of transport units.
Transport in Chita has kept developing over the recent years. Transportation in Chita is carried out by municipal transport, OAO “Gortransavto" and sole traders. Municipal transport is represented by Chita municipal enterprise “Trolleybusnoe Upravlenie” which owns 93 trolley buses.
As of January 2011 Chita had 5 trolley bus routes:
No1: Trolley bus deport – City hospital
No 2: TRZ - SIBVo Stadium
No 3: TRZ - Sosnovy Bor
No 5: Trolley bus depot – Railway station “Chita-2” (operates only in rush hours)
No 6: Trolley bus depot – Central market – Railway station Chita-2 – Sosnovy Bor.
Transportation enterprise OAO "Gortransavto” has 21 buses. Its fleet meets the requirements for public transport enterprises. OAO “Gortransavto” is mainly equipped with PAZ buses; 90% of buses have been in operation for less than 5 years.
There are 1238 vehicles and 430 drivers operating on 63 city routes, including:
- 5 trolley bus routes;
- 9 countryside (seasonal) routes;
- and 74 routes for small and medium size buses.
As Chita is a big city and has a number of remote districts, the main aim of the public transport development is to ensure availability of transport infrastructure and regular operation of city and countryside routes.
The total length of bus routes is 1605.9 km; the total length of trolley bus routes is 73.15 km.
